Girlie layout with Couture Creations

Easy Layout by Bridget Louw

Hi Bridget here again with a quick layout, using an assortment of wonderful Couture Creations products.

I made this layout in just a few hours thanks to Couture Creations products. I was inspired by a beautiful layout I saw on the Internet.

I started by heat embossing a doily stamp onto the top of the layout. Once it had cooled I laid down some of the gorgeous Gem Stones. Using the paper piercer from the Handheld Essentials set (C0721986) works brilliantly for placing the Gem stones.

Using some of the patterned paper I made a mock Instagram frame. I cut a piece of paper 3 ¾” x 4 ½” and using the 2nd largest die from the Nesting Dies: Square (C0723042) I cut out the window. I then placed my photo behind that.

I cut out one of the beautiful new doily dies from the Fantasia Collection called Celestial (C0723220) which comes with ejection foam.

I then painted my chipboard elements using white acrylic paint, and once dried sprayed it with some white Glimmer Mist.

I cut a 2” x6’ strip from another patterned paper and ran it through the embossing folder using the Poetry Embossing Folder (C0723825). I also cut a fish tail on one side to make it into a banner piece.

My favourite part of this layout was colouring the flowers. I sprayed them all in various colours of glimmer mist but wanted them less bold and more shabby chic. So I made a puddle of white paint and a blob of Glitzin Glamour – Crystalina (C0721971). I took a paint brush and dry-brushed white paint on the petals and using another brush lightly coated some glitter on it. This glammed them up but also toned down the bright colours.

I then assembled the layout using Foam Mounting Tape (C0721963) and double sided tape (C0721984).

Monochromatic Swing Card

Monochromatic Swing Card by Bridget Louw

Hi Bridget here again with another quick and easy project to make, using an array of wonderful Couture Creations dies, embossing folders and pearls.

This style of cards has to be one of my favourite “go to” cards to make when I need something pretty in a hurry.

To make the card you will need to cut the following pieces out of your favourite cardstock:
Cream Cardstock:
The card base measures 7” x 10” scored at 2 ½” and 5”
The embossed layer measures 6 5/8” x 4 ¾”
Black Cardstock:
The layer under the embossed layer measures 6 ¾” x 4 5/8”

Using the Nesting Dies: Oval (C0723044) I cut the 2nd and 3rd largest oval, out of black cardstock.  From the Nesting Dies: Scalloped Oval (C0723045) I cut the 2nd and 3rd largest scalloped oval, both out of cream cardstock.

You will need to cut two additional pieces. Using the second largest Scallop oval die, cut one out of black cardstock, then using the 3rd largest plain oval cut the center out creating an oval scalloped frame. From the 2nd largest plain oval die, cut one piece in cream cardstock, this is the piece you will stamp your image or sentiment on.

To create the “swing” part of the card, place the scalloped oval die(2nd biggest one) where the center intercepts the 2 ½” score line
Place them in your die-cutting machine but make sure your top cutting mat only goes up to the score line as per the picture. This will ensure only the half under the cutting mat will cut.

With this done, you can now assemble the layers of the ovals and scalloped ovals using the Foam Mounting Tape (C0721963) under the smaller of the two scalloped ovals. Adhere to the half-cut scalloped oval you cut earlier.

Put the second piece of Cream cardstock in your embossing folder of choice. I used the Poetry Embossing Folder (C0723825). Once embossed adhere to the black layer using double sided tape (C0721984).

Put your plain cream ocal with your sentiment behind the black frame and put some Foam Mounting Tape behind it. Place on the embossed layer on the inside of the card.

I put a piece of black velvet ribbon down the length of the front panel and stuck down four of the gorgeous pearls in the off white from Couture Creations.

Lastly, add any flowers or embellishments to the front of your card.

Simply Elegant Card by Bridget Louw

Hi everyone, its Bridget here to share a Sympathy Card I made using an array of amazing products from Couture Creations.

I always seem to struggle to come up with Sympathy cards that are elegant, tasteful and not too bright and joyful. White cards are always a winner but not making them too plain is another challenge. The Couture Creations 5x7 embossing folders come in a huge variety of designs, making white cards look elegant with a minimum of effort. For this card I used the Couture Creations Timeless Embossing Folder, which is one of my all time favourites.

To make the card you will need to cut the following pieces out of your favourite white cardstock:
The card base measures 7” x 10” scored at 5”
The next layer measures 4 ¾” x 6 ¾”
The layer that gets embossed measures 6 ½” x 4 ½”.

For this card I used the Couture Creations Timeless Embossing Folder (CO723166), which is one of my all time favourites.

Using the Nesting Dies: Oval (C0723044) I cut the 2nd largest oval, out of the Nesting Dies: Scalloped Oval (C0723045) I cut the 2nd largest scalloped oval, both out of white cardstock.

Stamp the image you want to colour on the plain oval, using your preferred colouring method. I used Copic Markers

Die cut the label for your sentiment using the smaller die from the Fleur de Frame set (C0723050) and stamp your sentiment.

Add a strip of white organza ribbon across the center of the embossed layer (there is a straight strip which embosses as part of the design)

Add some Foam mounting Tape (C0721963) to the back of the sentiment as well as to the scalloped oval, once you have adhered the plain oval to it. This adds dimension to your card. Assemble the card and voila, it’s ready to go.

Have a Ducky Easter by Bridget Louw

Hi everyone, its Bridget here to share a quick and easy Easter project I made using an few amazing products from Couture Creations.

I am guilty of always leaving things until the last minute and Easter is no exception. Bottom line, I needed a small Easter gift and I needed it FAST. I came up with this Easter egg box and card thanks to my Couture Creations dies.

To create the base and lid, and using Nesting Dies: Scallop Square (C0723043), I cut out the largest square, once out of patterned paper and once out of plain cardstock.

I score each side at ¾” and cut slits in all four sides. I also cut off the large circle in each corner as when you tuck the slits in to form the lid, the circles stick out.

Cut a piece of acetate at 4” x 10 ¾” and scored it as follows: 2 5/8”, 5 ¼”, 7 7/8” and 10 ½”. Place strong adhesive and the remaining ¼” and assemble.

I created a box “inner” for the egg to rest on from the plain cardstock. Cut a square 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”, score at 3/8” on all four sides and cut slits as per the picture. Die cut a small circle in the center for the egg to rest in.

Place the base on the acetate box, insert the egg inner, add the egg and put on the lid. Tie a ribbon around the box and that’s the first part done.

For the card, cut a piece of plain cardstock 4” x 8’ and score at 4”. Cut a piece of patterned paper at 3 ¾” x 3 ¾”.
Using the Nesting Dies: Oval (C0723044) cut the 3rd largest oval Nesting Dies: Scalloped Oval (C0723045) out of patterened paper. Cut the 3rd largest scalloped oval, out of white cardstock, stamp your image and colour it in using your preferred colouring method. I used Copic Markers. When finished attach the oval to the scalloped oval. Using the smallest dies in both sets, repeat this process for the sentiment.

Pop both the large and small oval sets up on Foam mounting Tape (C0721963).

Assemble your card as per the picture. There you have it, all done and ready to give as a gift. This quick project can be used for any occasion.
